Cookson Captures 3rd
Win in a Row
in
2023 at Oxford
Plains Speedway |
19-year-old
Max Cookson is at
the top of game at
Oxford this season.
After picking up
wins in the first
two weekly Super
Late Model races, on
Saturday May 13th he
dominated the PASS
150 SLM feature.
Plus he had capped
off his 2022 OPS
season with the win
at the October 15th
Spencer Paving Group
LLC PASS 150.
Four Oxford
Championship Series
divisions and the
PASS MODS put on a
big Saturday race
show.
Charlie
Hall topped the
field in the
KHM/Floor Solutions
Thunder Stocks.
Orion Tripp took the
early lead and led
the race until lap
14 when he made
contact with Bella
Flaherty who had
been knocked loose
out of her groove.
Hall took the lead
on the restart and
led the rest of the
20 lap feature.
Thomas Richards
finished in 2nd with
Kyle Glover picking
up 3rd place.
Corey Morgan
picked up his first
win of the season in
the Cooley's
Commercial Tire Mad
Bombers. Callahan
Cox took the early
lead and held on to
it through two
cautions before
Morgan made his way
through the field to
take the lead on lap
7. Callahan Cox
settled for a 2nd
place finish with
Nick Wilson
finishing in 3rd
place.
Tyson
Jordan captured his
first win of the
season in the
Richard Spaulding
Roofing Specialist
Street Stocks.
Brandon Johnson
jumped into the
early lead but was
quickly challenged
by Jordan who
eventually took the
lead on lap 5.
Johnson fell back
and Richard
Spaulding and Jordan
Russell entered the
picture. Russell
raced up the outside
taking 2nd while
Billy Childs Jr
moved into 3rd on
lap 15. After a
caution on lap 18
Russell raced side
by side with Jordan
for the lead. Jordan
pulled way with the
lead on lap 25 and
led the rest of the
30 lap feature.
After a caution came
out with three to
go, on the restart
Russell and Joey
Israelson raced side
by side and stayed
that way until the
finish where Russell
just barely got him
at the line.
Israelson had to
settle for a 3rd
place finish.
Spencer Vaughan
took home his first
PASS MODS feature
win since joining
the division in
2018. Vaughan led
all 50 laps of the
feature with Ryan
Hewins and Spencer
Morse trying to
chase him down.
Hewins and Morse
finished 2nd and 3rd
respectively.
Chris Smith
dominated the Dow
Excavation Inc.
Limiteds feature.
Alex Smith took the
early lead holding
off Jordan Russell
until lap 13. When
A.Smith fell back C.
Smith quickly moved
into 2nd and waited
for the chance to
take the lead from
Russell. After a
caution on lap 15
Chris was finally
able to take the
lead and ran away
with it. Jordan
Russell finished in
2nd place with Nate
Leavitt taking home
3rd.
Garrett
Lamb took the lead
at the green in the
PASS SLM 150. After
a dozen laps Brandon
Barker moved into
the lead with Jeremy
Whorff and Dennis
Spencer riding in
2nd and 3rd. . From
a 9th place starting
spot, a charging Max
Cookson made his way
through the field to
take the lead from
Barker just after
lap 100 and take
home his first PASS
win of 2023. Barker
held on for a 2nd
place with Kyle
Desouza delighted to
have a podium finish
in 3rd. Coming from
the back of the grid
Ben Rowe took 4th
while Trevor Sanborn
finished in 5th.
The PASS SLMs
return to action at
White Mountain
Motorsport Park on
Saturday, May 20th
at 5:50 PM. |
